Summary
A phytochemical study on the rhizomes of Dysosma tonkinense resulted in the isolation of eight compounds (1-8). Their structures were elucidated through 1D- and 2D-NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry (MS), and comparison with reported spectroscopic data. The isolated compounds were identified as α-peltatin (1), podophyllotoxin (2), picropodophyllotoxin (3), α-peltatin 2-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), ethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (5), vanillic acid (6), a salt form of protocatechuic acid (7), and ethyl-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (8). This is the first report of compounds (3-7) from D. tonkinense, and notably, compound 4 is the first record from the genus Dysosma.
Keywords: Dysosma tonkinense; Lignans; Phenolic acid derivatives; Sugar.
