Summary
Phenolic Constituents of Twigs and Leaves of Wikstroemia indica (L.) C.A. Mey. and their Effects on LPS-Induced IL-1β and IL-10 Cytokine Production in RAW 264.7 Cell Lines
Five phenolic compounds, including methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (1), syringin (2), genkwanin (3), kaemferol-3-O-rhamnoside (4), and yuankanin (5), were isolated from the 70% EtOH extract of W. indica twigs and leaves. Their structures were identified using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS) datawith compound 2 being reported for the first time from this plant. The compounds were evaluated for their effects on IL-1β and IL-10 cytokine production in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages and 3 showed considerably inhibitory activity against IL-1β with an IC50 value of 18.8 ± 2.46 µM.
