Summary

Six compounds, including 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde (1), caffeic acid (2), rosmarinic acid (3), salvianolic acid B (4), benzyl β-D-glucopyranoside (5), and astragalin (6), were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of E. asperula. Their structures were elucidated based on extensive nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) data and mass spectrometry (MS), as well as by comparison with published literature. Among them, compounds 1 and 5 are reported for the first time from the Ehretia genus. These compounds were isolated to identify key chemical markers for evaluating the quality of E. asperula in Vietnam.
