Summary
Aqueous extract and mucilage of radix of Hibiscus sagittifolius var. septentrionalis Gag. Malvaceae was evaluated for its antiulcer activity against pyloric ligation induced ulcer model. The study results showed that:
- Aqueous extract of radix Hibisci sagittifolii at the oral dose of 10g plant material per kg body weight has reduced the free acidity by 20,5%, total acidity by 13,8%, rate of ulcer rats by 50,0%, ulcer score by 59,1%.
- The mucilage of radix Hibisci sagittifolii at the oral dose of 2,67g/kg body weight (corresponding to mucilage amount in 10g radix) per oral has reduced the free acidity by 37,4%, total acidity by 22,9%, rate of ulcer rats by 34,0%, ulcer score by 54,2%.
