Summary
Determination of Aucubin in Folium plantaginis (Plantago major L.) by Thin Layer Chromatography - Scanning Method (TLC- Scanning) for Standardization
A simple, sensitive, selective and precise TLC- Scanning method has been developed for the determination of aucubin in Plantago major L. The determination was performed on silicagel60F254 plate, Merck used as stationary phase, with aceton : xylen : isopropanol : ammoniac đđ (10: 30: 50: 10) as the mobile phase and 4. aminobensaldehyde-hydrochlohidric acid for detection. A Camag TLCscanner 3 was used for spectrodensitometric scanning and analysis at 590nm. The calibration plot was linear in the range of 0.5-2.0mg aucubin with the correlation coefficient of 0.9969. Repeatability of the method was found to be 3,103%. The average recovery was 100.5%. The method showed good reliability for quantitative monitoring of aucubin and quality control of P. major L.
