Chemical Composition of the Essential Oil of Curcuma aff. Rubens Rroxb., Kontum Province, Vietnam
In this article, the chemical components of the essential oil of "nghe tim" (Curcuma aff. rubens Roxb.) in Kon Tum province have been studied.
By the combination of gas chromatography with mass-spectrometry (GC/MS), sixteen components in the essential oil of big rhizomes were identified: curzerene 22.86%; camphor 7.12%; germacrene B 9.21%; curzerenone 6.76%; germacrone 6.63%; β-elemene 3.66%; γ-elemen 2.43%…
Sixteen components in the essential oil of small rhizomes were identified: curzerene 19.19%, camphor 10.27%; isoborneol 2.25%; β-elemene 2.77%; γ-elemene 2.11%; germacrene B 7.29%; curzerenone 5.66%; germacron 7.98%…
And five components in the essential oil of roots were identified: β-elemene 16,06%, camphor 13,16%; α-terpinene 2,02%; α-humulene 1,33%; (+)-aromadendrene 1,59%.
In the trial of antibacterial vitivity, the essential oil exhibited antimicrobial effect against Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans and was inactive towards Escherichia coli.
