Summary
Isolation and Ddetherrmination of Pphenolics from the Bark of Calophyllum calaba L. var. bracteatum (Wight) Stevens
Extensive column chromatography over silica gel, RP18 and Sephadex LH-20 on a petroleum ether and an ethyl acetate extract of the bark of Calophyllum calaba L. var. bracteatum (Wight) Stevens led to the isolation of six compounds, 1,7-dihydroxyxanthone (1), 2-hydroxy-1-methoxyxanthone (2), 1,5-dihydroxy-3-methoxyxanthone (3), protocatechuic acid (4), gallic acid (5), and teysmannic acid (6). Their structures were dethermined by spectroscopic methods.
