Summary
Establishment of transient ischemia-induced learning deficit on mice to evaluate
the improvement of cognitive impairment
Establishment of the animal models plays an important role in the science of medicine and pharmacy. In order to serve as a useful model, a pathological model must be similar to etiologyof human disease. Brain ischemia results in neuronal cell injury in brain regions such as cerebral cortex, hippocampus, known to play an important role in learning and memory. In this study, we established the model of transient ischemia-induced learning deficit in mice and evaluate behavioral deficit using Morris water maze. We also evaluated the preventive effect of tacrine, a cholinesterase inhibitor for the treatment of Alzheimers disease, on transient ischemia-induced learning impairment in mice.
