Research on the Chemical Compositions of Some Vietnamese Distichochlamys Species (Distichochlamys rubrostriata W. J. Kress & Rehse and Pukdarak )

The essential oils of rhizomes of Distichochlamys rubrostriata W. J. Kress & Rehse and Pukdarak collected in Vietnam were analyzed by GC/MS.

More than fourteen components were found in the rhizomes oil of Distichochlamys rubrostriata W. J. Kress & Rehse, of which the major ones are 1,8-cineole (13.20 – 22.00%),  (Z)-citral (14.15 - 22.26%), (E)-geraniol (12.47 - (12.75%), (E)-citral (18.49 - 22.13%), geranyl acetate (6.61 - 14.92%).

The essential oils of rhizomes of Pukdarak collected in Daknong province contained the following major components: camphene (12.37%), β-pinene (21.67%), and terpinen-4-ol (11.11%).

Phytochemical investigation of the rhizomes of Distichochlamys rubrostriata W. J. Kress & Rehse and Pukdarax resulted in the isolation of four compounds (1~4). The structures were identified to be 3,5-dihydroxy-4’,7-dimethoxyflavon (1), sitosterol palmitate (2), 3’,5-dihydroxy-4’,7-dimethoxyflavonol-3-rutinoside (3) and β-sitosterol (4) by  spectroscopic methods.
