Investigation of Biological Activity of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. cultivated

in Ho Chi Minh City

Houttuynia cordata Thunb. belongs to the Saururaceae family. All parts of this plant are used as traditional medicines. Its essential oil was analyzed by GC-MS and has about 23 compounds. The essential oil, the  extracts with various organic solvents  from  Houttuynia cordata plant collected in rainy  and dry  seasons have been tested with respect to their antimicrobial, fungicidal, cytotoxicity and  anti-oxidant activity.
