Assay of antibacterial activity of Diterpen lacton compounds extracted
from the leaves of Andrographis paniculata (Burm.f.) Nees
Diterpen lacton compounds are extracted from the leaves of Andrographis paniculata by the method of percolation. The study of its antibacterial activity upon 8 common bacterial strains and 2 bacterial strains causing major diseases of upper respiratory tract through using the method of diffusion on agar, showed that Diterpen lacton compounds have a large antibacterial spectrum upon many bacterial strains, of both gr(+) and gr(-), that are the pathogens of upper respiratory tract infections.
Key words: Diterpen lacton compounds, Andrographis paniculata.
