Study of Essential Oil of Mang Tang Litsea cubeba (Lour.) Pers., in Daknong

Mang tang, Litsea cubeba (Lour.) Pers., belongs to the Lauraceae family. In this paper the essential oil of leaves and fruits of the wild plant, collected in Daknong, was studied. Hydrodistillation with conventional heating or microwave irradiation was used to extract these oils. The chemical compositions of these oils were identified by GC/MS. The main constituents of fruit oil are neral (36 %) and geranial (45 %), and those of leaf oil are phellandrene (74 %). We also studied the fat oil of the seed. The physical and chemical indices were meassured. The antimicrobial activity was investigated too.
