Researches on Effect of the Planting Distances on Growth, Development and Yield of

Two Varieties of Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris L) in Spring Season at Gia Lam Hanoi

The experiment was conducted to study on four planting distances (5 x 20 cm; 10 x 20 cm; 15 x 20 cm và 20 x 30 cm) for two varieties of Mugwort with green and purple stems in Spring season at Gia Lam Hanoi. The results showed: The growth periods of Mugwort were not affected by plantting distances and varieties. Time from planting to harvesting is 40 days for all of the treatments in the experiment. At 5 x 20 cm planting distance, the highest growth parameters was obtained from variety of Mugwort with purple stem (i.e. the plant height was 31.2 cm; number of shoots: 630 shoots/m²; LAI: 6.2 m² leaves/m² soil; …). At 20 x 20 cm planting distance, the highest number of branches (5.1 branches/plant); dry matter (9.61 g/plant) was obtained in Mugwort variety with purple stem. At planting distance of 5 x 20 cm, the high yields was obtained from two varietes of Mugwort, in which the fresh highest yield was 6.12 ton/ha equal dry yield to 1.02 ton/ha in  Mugwort variety with purle stem.
