Summary

Immunostimulating Effects of a Preparation Combined from the Cultivated Cordyceps sinensis, Ganoderma lucidum and Angelica sinensis in Cyclophosphamide-induced Immunosuppressed Mice

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the immune stimulating effect of the aqueous solution CSGL prepared from the cultivated Cordyceps sinensisGanoderma lucidum and Angelica sinensis on the cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppressed mice. CSGL was administered orally at the doses of 1.01 and 2.02g/kg/day for 7 days. Oral administration of CSGL showed a significant increase of relative spleen weight. Significant increases in peripheral blood leukocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils, and monocytes were observed in CSGL-treated groups when compared to control group. CSGL shows potential delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction by facilitating the footpad thickness response to OA in sensitized mice. CSGL significantly restored the level of IL-2 and TNF-α in peripheral blood to normal healthy levels. The histopathological study of spleen and thymus tissues also showed that CSGL clearly helped to recover the damages caused by cyclophosphamide.
