Summary

The Results of Research on the Distribution and Ecology of Panax bipinnatifidus and

Panax stipuleanatus in Vietnam

Panax bipinnatifidus and Panax stipuleanatus are especially valuable medicinal plants in Vietnam. Both are only found in the high mountainous region of Hoang Lien Son, where including localities in Bat Xat and Sa Pa districts of Lao Cai province.

P. bipinnatifidus and P. stipuleanatus are hygrophilous and shade-enduring plants, prefering cool and wet climate conditions with an everage temperature of about 12.8 – 15.2^oC.

However, by causes of the over-exploitation and destroyed habitats, 2 species of Panax genus are now facing with serious extinction threats and their conservation has been prioritized in Vietnam.
