Summary
Investigation of Citroflavonoids Contents in the Peels of Citrus Fruits Collected in Vietnam
The contents of two major citroflavonoids, hesperidin and naringin, in the peels of 60 fruit samples belonging to 8 Citrus species collected in Vietnam were determined by means of high performance liquid chromatography analysis. The results indicate that naringin is the characteristic constituent of all C. maxima peels with the content ranged from 12.19 to 205.72 mg/g, while hesperidin is the major component of other Citrus samples. The contents of hesperidin were found significantly different: 22.57- 160.82 mg/g inC. sinensis, 23.14 – 59.75 mg/g in C. nobilis, 31.28 - 57.02 mg/g in C. reticulata, 7.99 - 12.33mg/g in C. aurantifolia, 19.59 - 29.59mg/g in C. limon and 0 - 2.76 mg/g in others Citrus species samples. The result shows that the peels of C. maxima, C. sinensis, and C. reticulata are promising sources of citroflavonoids.
