Summary
Hypouricemic Effect of Siegesbeckia orientalis on Serum uric Acid
Level in Potassium Oxonate-Pretreated Mice
The effect of the ethanol extract and its fractions of Siegesbeckia orientalis on the serum uric acid level were investigated using hyperuricemic mice induced by potassium oxonate. The ethanol extract at 600 mg/kg and the n-butanol fraction at 120 mg/kg administered orally for 5 days were demonstrated to possess in vivo hypouricemic effect in hyperucemic mice. In addition, the n-butanol fraction inhibited significantly in mice liver xanthine oxidase activity at the same dose described above.
