Summary

Study on the Cholinesterase Inhibitory Activity of Erythrophleum fordii (Lim Xanh)

The inhibition of acetylcholinesterase is the most clinically successful in the management of Alzheimer disease (AD). Some anti-cholinesterase agents as tacrine and galantamine have been used to treat the early symptoms of AD. The more bright suggestions are that of novel AChE inhibitors such as huperzines from plant sources could be valuable alternatives in the context of AD treatment. This study demonstrated that the methanol extracts of several parts ofErythrophleum fordii (Lim xanh) showed potential AChE inhibitory activity which indicated that this plant may be useful for the treatment of AD.
