Summary

"Sito" - Valeriana jatamansi Jones is a traditional medicinal plant used by Dao and H^’Mong people. It is found in the high mountainous foresyed areas of Northern Vietnam and has been used in folk medicine as sedative, antispasmodic ... This plant has been also employed in several other countries, especially in China and India. In Vietnam, there has been no report on pharmacology of this plant, up to now. In this article, we present the study results on some pharmacological effects of Valeriana jatamansi in Vietnam as materials to produce a new tranquilizer.
