The Red List changes by times. It’s necessary to regularly update information to conduct a re-assessment of threatened status species.
Original IUCN categories and criteria (’70 and 1994) have been used in establishing the Red List of Medicinal Plants of Vietnam in 1984, 1996 and 2001.
The Red List of Medicinal Plants of Vietnam in 2006 includes 139 species belong to 94 genera and 58 families of higher vascular plants. Which are classified according to the IUCN 2001’ criteria into 3 groups, Critically Endangered: 18 species; Endangered: 54 species and Vulnerable: 67 species.
