Study on the botanical classification and antibacterial activities of the roots of Clerodendrum chinense var. simplex (Mold.)S.L.Chen, Verbenaceae was performed. The results of the study showed that the concentrated extract by boiling water had antibacterial activity on bacterial positive Gram strains such asStaphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Proteus vulgaris ATCC 13315, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 958 and Bacillus pumilusNCTC 8241.
