Study on the Chemical Composition, Antibacterial and Antifugal Activities of the Essential Oils from Bidens pilosa L.
Studying the chemical composition, antibacterial and antifungal activities of the essential oils from Bidens pilosa L, a traditional medicinal plant widely distributed in Viet Nam, the results showed that:
1. The essential oils of fresh leaves and flowers part were obtained 0.18% and 0.14% (v/w), respectively, by steam-distillation. The essential oils from the fresh leaves and flowers of Bidens pilosa L. were analyzed by GC–MS and there were thirty-six and thirty-eight components respectively. Of which 1-phenyl-hepta-1,3,5-triyn (74,46 % and 71,7%) were the main compounds in the essential oils of leaves and flowers.
2. Both essential oils of fresh leaves and flowers part had antibacterial and antifungal activities.
