Chemical Composition of the Leaf Oil of Cinnamomum ovatum Allen from Vietnam
The leaf oil of Cinnamomum ovatum Allen collected from Ha Tinh province, Vietnam, in October 2005 was isolated by steam distillation to give oil yield 0.75% and analyzed by Capillary GC and GC/MS.
Fifty components have been identified accounting more than 99.3% of the oil respectively. The major constituents of this oil appeared to be geraniol (57.1%) and geranyl acetate (17.1%). Predominant minor compounds included bicyclogermacrene (4.6%), linalool (3.7%), b- caryophyllene (3.7%), a-pinene (3.2%), b-pinene (2.2%) and 1,8-cineol (1.3%).
