Phosphorylation Effect of Vietnamese Plants on eNOS and AMPK in Huvec cells
Sixteen methanol extracts from Vietnamese medicinal plants were examined for endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (Huvec cells). The results indicated that five extracts showed considerably activated effects on phosphorylation of eNOS as well as AMPK. The plants include Phlogacanthus turgidus (aerial parts), Vigna radiata (cortex), Glycyrrhiza glabra (root), Polygala tenuiflorum (root), and Zanthoxylum simulans (seed). This study may provide a new search for drugs used for prevention of atherosclerosis from these plants.
