TOTAL PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS OF VIETNAMESE MEDICINAL PLANTS

Total Phenolic Compounds of Vietnamese Medicinal Plants

Among the MeOH extracts from 126 Vietnamese traditional medicinal plants belonging to 59 families being evaluated for their total phenolic compounds, MeOH extracts of 10 plants possessed abundant total phenolic content. These include extracts of Euphorbia thymifolia (leaf), Heterosmilax erythrantha (root), Smilax glabra (root), Morus alba (leaf), Syzygium formosum (leaf), Polygonum cuspidatum (rhizome), P. multiflorum (rhizome), Camellia dormoyana (leaf), C. sinensis (leaf), and Ampelopsis cantaniensis (leaf). All of these herbs showed remarkably abundant content of total phenolics amounting to 50.1, 69.4, 63.5, 63.3, 69.6, 56.8, 63.4, 72.3, 96.1, and 94.2 mg gallic acid equivalent per 1 g MeOH extract, respectively.
