Summary
Chemical Constituents from Twigs and Leaves of Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume.
Seven compounds, including verbascoside (1), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (2), protocatechuic acid (3), vanillic acid (4), kaempferol (5), quercetin (6), and β-sitosterol (7) were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Jasminum subtriplinerve twigs and leaves. The structures of these compounds were identified using extensive nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) data, mass spectrometry (MS), and comparison with published literature. Compounds 4 and 6 were reported for the first time from the Jasminum genus. Furthermore, the quantification of verbascoside (1) in J. subtriplinerve was performed using the HPLC-DAD method. The determined contents of verbascoside in the leaves, twigs, and combined twigs and leaves samples of J. subtriplinerve were 2.77%, 0.46%, and 0.74%, respectively. These results suggest that verbascoside might be used as a marker for standardizing the quality of J. subtriplinerve's twigs and leaves.
