Summary

Chemical Constituents from Water Soluble Extract

of Balanophora laxiflora Hemls. Collected in Vietnam

Phytochemical study on the aqueous extract of Balanophora laxiflora resulted in the isolation of five compounds. They were identified as 1-O-(3-methylbutyl)-6-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl- (1→6)-β-D-glucopyranose (1), isolariciresinol 9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), coniferyl aldehyde β-D-glucopyranoside (3), 4-O-galloyl-1-O-E-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranose (4) and 6-O-galloyl-1-O-E-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranose (5) on the basis of spectral data. Among them, compounds 3 and 4 were isolated from this plant for the first time and compounds 1, 2, 5 were obtained from this genus for the first time.
