Summary

Chemical Constituents of the Stem Bark of Limonia acidissima Groff, Rutaceae

Five compounds were isolated from Limonia acidissima stem bark, including: atraric acid (1), β-sitosterol (2), (2S)-5,3′-dihydroxy-4′-methoxy-6′′,6′′-dimethylchromeno-(7,8,2′′,3′′)-flavanone (3), (7′E)-4-hydroxy-3,5′-dimethoxy-4′,7-epoxy-8,3′-neolig-7′-en-9,9′-diyil diacetate (4) and 4-methoxy-1-methyl-2-quinolone (5). Their structures (1 - 5) were identified based on 1D-NMR, 2D-NMR, ESI-MS, and comparisons with previous reports. Compound 1 was reported from L. acidissima for the first time and compound 3 exhibited the cytotoxicity in the RD-A cell line (IC50 = 43.05 µM) and MDA-MB-231 cell line (IC50 = 30.11 µM).

Keywords: Limonia acidissima, Atraric acid, Lignan, Flavanone, Quinolone.
