Summary

Genetic Diversity of Curcuma zedoaria Rosc. Collected in Vietnam Using ISSR

In  this study, genetic diversity of Curcuma zedoaria Rosc. from 31 germplasm resources, collected from 25 districts of 17 provinces and cities in Vietnam was evaluated using ISSR markers. A total of 68 bands were generated by amplifying 10 primers,  among which 64 bands were polymorphic. The average percentage of polymorphic bands was 94.4%. Bands sized ranging from 250 bp to 1500 bp. The coefficient of genetic similarity between 31 germplasms changed from 0.47 to 0.94, an average of 0.71. PIC index ranged from 0.24 - 0.45, average of 0.41. The index of difference between primer pairs was 2.79. At the average genetic similarity coefficient of 0.71, the genetic relationship among 31 germplasm sources were divided into 5 groups: Group I including NT1, NT5; Group II: NT10; Group III including NT2, NT15, NT14, NT3, NT6, NT4, NT13, NT9, NT7, NT8, NT28, NT12, NT11, NT21, NT22, NT23; Group IV including NT16, NT31, NT25, NT29, NT30, NT24, NT17, NT26, NT18, NT19, NT20; Group V: NT27. The genetic resources collected from the same province could be classified into the same group. However, no clear correlation was found among the collected genetic sources and their geographical origin.
