Summary

Isolation and Quantification of Ginsenosides from Processed Panax notoginseng Radix and Rhizome

From the extract of Panax notoginseng radix and rhizome which was processed by steaming at 120°C for 4 hours, eight ginsenosides were isolated, including 20(R)-ginsenoside Rh1 (1), 20(R)-ginsenoside Rg3 (2), 20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 (3), ginsenoside Rg1 (4), notoginsenoside R1 (5), ginsenoside Re (6), ginsenoside Rd (7), and ginsenoside Rb1 (8). The chemical structures of these compounds have been determined based on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and compared with published data. The contents of ginsenosides 1, 3-8 in unprocessed and processed P. notoginseng samples were determined by the HPLC-PDA method.
