ISOLATION OF PHENOLICS, TRITERPENOID AND STEROID FROM ABIVINA, an EXTRACT OF Adenosma indiana (Lour.) Merr.

Summary
Isolation of Phenolics, Triterpenoid and Steroid from Abivina,
an Extract of Adenosma indiana (Lour.) Merr.
Six compounds were isolated from an aqueous extract of aerial parts of Adenosma indiana (Lour.) Merr., known as ABIVINA extract. They were identified as four phenolics apocynin (1), 4-hydroxyacetophenone (2), chrysoplenetin (3), vanillic acid (4), a triterpenoid betulinic acid (5) and a phytosterol daucosterol (6). Their chemical structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses (1D-, 2D-NMR, MS) and by comparison of physical properties with the reference compounds. To the best of our knowledge, compounds 1, 2 and 4 were isolated from the genus Adenosma for the first time.
