Summary

Phytochemical Analysis and Bioactivity Evaluation of Boeica porosa C.B. Clarke

from Lam Binh Mountainous Region, Tuyen Quang Province

For the first time, a phytochemical and bioactivity analysis of Boeica porosa was reported. The total contents of phenolic, flavonoid, saponin, and alkaloid compositions were analysed and the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects, α-amylase inhibition and cytotoxicities of extracts and subfractions from B. porosa in Lam Binh mountainous area, Tuyen Quang province, were evaluated. Total extracts and subfractions from the aerial part of the plant had higher chemical amounts and exhibited stronger bioactivities than those of the underground part. Ethyl acetate subfraction of the aerial part had considerable total phenolic and flavonoid contents at 440.5 mg GAE/g and 286.6 mg QE/g, respectively, and exhibited significantly the antioxidant effect and α-amylase inhibition. All of the samples demonstrated weak NO production inhibition in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophage cells and cytotoxic activity against HepG2 and A549 cancer cells. These findings provided a promising direction for further isolation of bioactive compounds from B. porosa.
