The 60^th Anniversary Ceremony for Foundation

of The National Institute of Medicinal Materials (NIMM)

The National Institute of Medicinal Materials was established under Decision No.324/QD-BYT dated April 13, 1961 by the Minister of Health, and was assigned the task of scientific research and comprehensive technology development of medicinal materials; consulting on the development of medicinal herbs; research into the production of drugs and medicinal products from medicinal materials; modernizing traditional medicine formulation and training staff specialized in pharmacognosy. On the 60^th anniversary of the National Institute of Medicinal Materials (April 13, 1961 - April 13, 2021), the Journal of Medicinal Materials published a special issue for our readers and scientists.

Over 60 years of development, the National Institute of Medicinal Materials has a long record of achievements and experience in scientific research and comprehensive technology development in medicinal materials. The staff of the National Institute of Medicinal Materials has completed many scientific and technological research tasks at all levels and made important contributions to the development of medicinal materials for the country. The Institute's high quality scientific outcomes and advanced technologies, are equal to and superior to those of other countries in the region and close to developed countries in the world, contributing to introduce the value of Vietnamese medicinal materials to the international community. With the successes and contributions from scientific and technological research achievement, the National Institute of Medicinal Materials is recognized as the leading research institution in the medicinal materials field of the country. 

The year 2021 marks the 60^th anniversary of the National Institute of Medicinal Materials and 52 years of the Journal of Medicinal Materials (1969 - 2021). During its 52 years of development, the Journal has built up trust with readers and gathered the contribution of a large number of experienced, enthusiastic scientists and collaborators who are experts in the fields of botany, phytochemistry, quantitative analysis, standardization, pharmacology, medicinal plant resources, agriculture ..., highly qualified post-graduate students in the field of medicinal herbs. The Journal affirms its position as one of the leading scientific journals, a reliable place for scientists to publish scientific researches, inventions, applications and award in Academic fields related to medicinal materials in Vietnam. Journal of Medicinal Materials has contributed to building the brand and the scientific recognition of research on medicinal materials of the National Institute of Medicinal Materials - Ministry of Health.  

On the occasion of the 60^th anniversary of the establishment, the National Institute of Medicinal Materials would like to publish a special edition of the Journal of Medicinal Materials as a sincere gratitude for the trust and support of our readers and scientists who accompany with the the Institute in recent years. We hope to continue receiving valuable support from readers and scientists in the coming time and to contribute to the development of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry, meeting the increasing requirements of the Party, Government and People of the country.
