Summary

The Topical Anti-Inflammatory Effect of a TSN-Based Gel on in vivo Model of Acute Inflammation

The present study aims to investigate the potential of the combination of tannic acid-modified silver nanoparticles (TSN), pomegranate peel extract, chitosan and Oroxylum indicum leaf extract in PlasmaKare gel in the treatment of inflammatory disorders. In the model of acute inflammation by the croton oil in mouse, the TSN-based gel showed a significant reduction in mice ear edema in comparison with control. The gel with the presence of O. indicum leaf extract represented the better effect than without O. indicum, indicating the contribution of this extract to the in vivo anti-inflammatory activity. These products therefore could be developed for atopic dermatitis treatment.

Keywords: TSN, Pomegranate peel, Oroxylum indicum, Croton oil edema method, Anti-inflammatory activity.
