Summary
Immunostimulating Effects of Leaves and Stems of Callisia fragrans (Lindl.) Woods. on Cyclophosphamid-Induced Immunosuppressive Model
The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of the freeze-dried leaf juice (LVL) and the ethanol-aqueous stems extract (LVT) of Callisia fragrans (Lindl.) Woods. on the immune system of cyclophosphamid-induced immunosuppressed mice. LVL was administrated with the dose of 0.1 and 0.4g/kg body weight/day and LVT with the dose of 0.023 and 0.092g/kg body weight/day for 5 days. LVL and LVT both stimulated humoral immunity and cell-mediated immunity: significantly increased the relative weights of spleen and thymus and white blood cells; restored the impairment of the humoral immune response and the cellular immune response in CY-induced immunosuppressed mice (increasing the number of BCD19, TCD3lymphocytes and the levels of IL-2 and TNF-a in spleen).
