Summary
Effects of a Preparation from Moringa oleifera Leaves (Moringa capsules) in Diabetic Mice
Recently, a preparation from M. oleifera leaves extract (Moringa capsules) had the hepatoprotective and hypolipidemic effects in mice. Based on the previous results, the aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Moringa capsules in diabetic mice. Moringa capsules at dose of 2 capsules/kg after 7-day administration possessed the regulating effect on hyperglycemia caused by glucose overload in oral glucose tolerance test or by streptozotocin. Diabetic mice administered Moringa capsules at dose of 1-2 capsules/kg as well as glibenclamide showed a decrease of MDA contents in liver or kidney homogenates and an increase of GSH levels contents in liver homogenates. The results demonstrated hepatorenal protective effects of Moringa capsules on streptozotocin-induced oxidative damage in mouse liver or kidneys.
