Study on Propagation of Dang sam of Codonopsis javanica in Vietnam

The study on propagation of Codonopsis javanica (Blume) Hook.f. & Thoms. was conducted at Hoa Binh commune, Kon Tum province, Vietnam. Based on experiment results, propragation techniques of Codonopsis javanica from seed, cutting and shoot have been found out at the first time. For high rate of germination (87%), the seed was soaked in water during 8 hours and covered with wet cloth during 12 hours later. Percentage of root formation was highest (100%) when using IBA 500ppm for propagation from shoot. Whereas, using IBA 1000ppm for propagation from matured stem cutting reached highest percentage of root formation (86,67%).
