Synthesis and Study of Biological Activity of Curcumin – Metal Complex Compounds

A process for preparing  complexes   by reaction of curcumin with certain  metal ions was elaborated. The metal- curcumin coloring complex is water soluble,  capable of producing varying dyes of the same colors. The metal-curcumin complexes were tested on  antimicrobial, cytotoxic and antioxidant activities. The results showed that all of them have strong antibacterial, antifungal and cytotoxic activities as good as curcumin. In the test on antioxidant activity,  only Sn- curcumin complex showed positive results.
