Summary
Research on the Chemical Constituents of the Essential Oils of VietnameseAmomum species
The rhizome essential oils of Amomum longiligulaire T. L. Wu, and Amomum xanthioidesWall. ex Barker, Amomum villosum Lour, and Amomum laetum Ridl. in Vietnam were analyzed by GC/MS.
More than thirteen components were found in the rhizome oils of Amomum longiligulaire T. L. Wu, of which the major ones were β-caryophyllene (6.90%), caryophyllene oxide (17.80%), and β-selinene (23.75%). The seed oils of Amomum longiligulaire T. L. Wu contained the two main components: camphor (73.45%), and endo-borneol (14.98%).
The volatile constituents of the rhizomes of Amomum xanthioides Wall. ex Barker are as follows: b-pinene (20.01%), terpinen-4-ol (16.77%), and linalyl propionate (7.17%). The seed oils of Amomum xanthioides Wall. ex Barker contained the two main components: camphor (42.48%), and bornyl acetate (45.36%).
The rhizome essential oils of Amomum villosum Lour contained a-pinene (65.32%), β-pinene (7.93%), D-limonene (4.20%) as the main components.
The seed essential oils of Amomum villosum Lour contained valencene (26.73%), α-panasinsene 12.42%), 6-isopropenyl-4,8a-dimethyldeca- hydro-1-naphthalenol (9.13%), and nootkatone (8.49%).
More than thirty components were found in the rhizome oils of Amomum laetum Ridl., of which the major ones were fenchene (7.16%), endo-fenchyl acetate (4.55%), isocaryophyllene (5.87%), and caryophyllene oxide (5.34%).
