Review: Biological Effects of Melaleuca Tree Oil Rich in Terpinen-4-ol and Rich in 1,8-Cineole
Many studies (from in vitro to in vivo and clinical studies) have demonstrated the effects of Melaleuca tree oil and its active ingredients. The most noticeable effects of Melaleuca tree oil are antibacterial and antifungal. This explains the therapeutic effect of the tree oil for a variety of diseases caused by bacterial and fungal infections. In addition, tree oil also has anti-viral, anti-protozoal activity. New findings about the anti-cancer activity of terpinen-4-ol and other components of the essential oil also open new directions in research and application of Melaleuca tree oil for the health care.
