IN TYPE 2 DIABETIC MICE

Summary
Anti-Hyperglycemic Effects of DTC-ND in Type 2 Diabetic Mice
Gymnema sylvestre extract is the main ingredient of DTC-ND, a product of Nam Duoc Joint Stock Company. This study was carried out to evaluate the anti-hyperglycemic effect of DTC-ND on a murine model of obesity and hyperglycemia, induced by a high-fat diet for 8 weeks and low dose STZ. After the mice were administered orally with DTC-ND at the doses of 2.88 g and 8.64 g/kg/day for 2 weeks, the blood glucose was decreased concurrently with enhancing regeneration of islet beta-cells. These results accentuate that DTC-ND could be a potential agent for treating diabetes mellitus.
