CALCIUM OXALATE CRYSTALLIZING INHIBITION OF EXTRACTS FROM SEVERAL PANDANUS SPECIES IN VIETNAM

Calcium Oxalate Crystallizing Inhibition of Extracts from Several Pandanus Species in Vietnam
Plants from the genus Pandanus were used as traditional medicines for urolithiasis treatment. Evaluation of calcium oxalate crystallizing inhibition of 14 extracts from 4 Pandanus species revealed that the extracts from P. nanofrutex and P. amaryllifolius exhibited stronger effects than those of P. odoratissimus and P. tectorius. The chemical quantitation and correlation analysis results indicated that phenolics and flavonoids significantly affect the calcium oxalate crystallizing inhibitory effect. These showed promising results for further investigation of antiurolithiatic compounds from Pandanus species.
