Summary
Screening the Arial Part Extracts for Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Fugal Activities
from Bidens pilosa L.
Screening the aerial part extracts for antibacterial and antifungal activities from Bidens pilosa L., a traditional medicinal plant widely distributed in Viet Nam, the results showed that:
1. All of the methanol, hot water, ethanol 80% extracts and four fractions of the methanol extract inhibited both Gram-possitive and Gram-negative bacteria, of which fraction exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity methanol extract and its ethyl acetate.
2. For antifungal activity, all of the methanol, hot water, ethanol 80% extracts did not inhibit any fungi, of which the chloroform, ethyl acetate fractions of the methanol extract inhibited both of the fungi.
