Study on Antioxidant Activity and Hepatoprotective Effect of Crude Polysaccharide Extracted from Ganoderma lucidum
Crude polysaccharide from Ganoderma lucidum had the free radical scavenging activity on DPPH test and did not have the anti-lipid peroxidation effect on MDA test. Crude polysaccharide at the oral dose of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg for 8 days had no effect on the increase of hepatic MDA content caused by cyclophosphamide. Crude polysaccharide at the oral dose of 200 mg/kg restored the decrease of hepatic glutathione content caused by cyclophosphamide. The study revealed that crude polysaccharide from Ganoderma lucidum showed the free radical scavenging activity and the hepatoprotective effect against cyclophosphamide-induced liver damage via increasing endogenous hepatic glutathione.
