Summary
Study on Immunostimulating Effects of Ganoderma lucidum on Cyclophosphamid-Induced Immunosuppressive Model
Immunostimulating effects of Ganoderma lucidum cultivated in Vietnam were studied on cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppressive mice. The ethanol extract, aqueous extract and crude polysaccharide were extracted from Ganoderma lucidum. Cyclophosphamide (150 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection) increased the percentage of neutrophils and decreased white blood cells; percentage of lymphocytes; the weights of liver, spleen, thymus; phagocytic index. The results revealed a strong impairment of the cellular response (the delayed type hypersensitivity reaction) in cyclophosphamide-treated mice. The ethanol extract, aqueous extract and crude polysaccharide increased significantly white blood cells and the weights of liver, spleen, thymus. Crude polysaccharide increased phagocytic index; restored theimpairment of the cellular response and the changes in percentage of neutrophils, lymphocytesin cyclophosphamide-treated mice. The ethanol extract increased phagocytic index in both naive mice and cyclophosphamide-treated mice. The results revealed that Ganoderma lucidumcultivated in Vietnam has immunostimulating effect on cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppressive model.
