Scientific Research Studies on Chemical Constituents of Curcuma’s Rhizome at Huong Hoa - Quang Tri Province

The major components of the n-hexane extract from Curcuma’s rhizome  were  identified on the basis of the combination of GC and MS as α-zingiberene, β-sesquiphellandrene. From chloroform extract two compounds were isolated. Their structures were determined by means of spectral data (MS, ¹H-, ¹³C-NMR, DEPT, HSQC and HMBC) as curcumin II and glycerol-(9Z,12Z-octadecadienoate), the last one has not been found previously in Curcuma genus. This study showed also that the alkaloid constituent was absent in the  rhizome of this plant.
