Some Quatery Alcaloids Isolated from the Tubers of Stephania brachyandra

By repeated chromatography on silica gel column, three quaternary alkaloids with protoberberine-type were isolated from the tubers of Stephania brachyandra. Their chemical structures were determined as palmatine (1), dehydrocorydalmine (2) and palmatrubine (3) on the basis of the NMR and MS experiments. The reassigned carbon chemical shifts of palmatine were discussed. This is the first report of 1-3 from Stephania brachyandra Diels.
