Summary
Assay and Mechanism Study of the HCV-Protease Inhibitory Activity of Antrodins from Antrodia cinnamomea
Antrodia cinnamomea (Basidiomycetes) are used in Taiwan as traditional Chinese medicines. They are highly valued as medicinal herbs used as traditional treatment for diarrhea, abdominal pain, hypertension, itchy skin, liver cancer and antidote drugs. In our previous studies, we isolated five new maleic and succinic acid derivatives (antrodine A-E) from the mycelium of A. cinnamomea. In the present study, we investigated the HCV-protease inhibitory activity of these antrodins. Some antrodins had potent HCV-protease inhibitory activity. The mode of inhibition was studied for the most potent compound.
Keywords: Antrodin, HCV-NS3 protease.
