Summary

(+)-Catechin and (-)-Epicatechin from Celastrus paniculatus Willd.

Chemical investigation on the stems and leaves of Celastrus paniculatus Willd growing in Quang Binh, Vietnam led to the isolation and structural elucidation of (+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin. Their structures were determined on the basis of MS and NMR spectra and comparison with reported data.
