Isolation of Three Main Diterpene Lactones from Andrographis paniculata (Burm.f.) Nees. Leaves for Working Reference Standards
Three main diterpene lactones including andrographolide, 14-deoxy-11,12–didehydroandrographolide and neoandrographolide were isolated from the leaves ofAndrographis paniculata for working standards. A method of isolation includes the extraction of diterpene lactons with ethanol, the elimination of impurities by active coal, the isolation of each diterpene lactone compound by silica gel column chromatography and purification of the compounds by recrystalization. The compounds were identified by their melting points, IR, NMR and MS spectra. The puriry of the isolated compounds were determined by HPLC to be more than 99%. They were used as working standards for quantitative determination of their content in raw materials and in preparations containing A. paniculata leaves.
